About Our Guest

Laura Rendón is Professor Emerita at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Her life journey from the border to Laredo Junior College informed her commitment to community college student retention and completion. Her degrees in Guidance Counseling and Psychology (M.A.) and Higher Education Administration (Ph.D.) led to her focus on contemplative pedagogy and redefining assessment and research in higher education. The author of numerous articles and regular leader of workshops at colleges and universities around the country, Prof. Rendón’s book Sentipensante Pedagogy: Educating for Wholeness, Social Justice, and Liberation is a classic contribution to radical pedagogical theory and practice.
